A high-quality pipe should not only offer good economy but also feature a stable and reliable interface, material impact resistance, and other essential characteristics. It's important to understand how to effectively connect and utilize it. Below is a detailed process for connecting PE pipes.
Before connecting the pipe, it is essential to check the pipe, fittings, and any ancillary equipment to ensure they meet the design requirements. They should be inspected on-site for appearance and must align with the necessary specifications before use. The main items to inspect include pressure resistance, external surface quality, fit quality, and material consistency.
According to different forms of interface should be used in accordance with the corresponding special heating tools, shall not use open flame heating pipe and pipe fittings.
Pipes connected by fusion welding should use the same kind of pipe and pipe fittings with the same grade of material, and the pipes and pipe fittings with similar performance must be tested first and qualified before proceeding.
Pipes and fittings should be placed on the construction site for a certain period before connecting so that the temperature of the pipes and fittings is the same.
When connecting in a cold climate (below -5 degrees) and windy environment, protective measures should be taken or adjustment of the connection process.
The pipe end should be clean when connecting the pipes, and the pipe opening should be temporarily blocked every time the work is finished to prevent debris from entering the pipe.
The appearance of the pipe should be checked after connection, and those who are not qualified should be reworked immediately.
To begin with, the electrofusion fittings set in the pipe, and then a special welding machine according to the specified parameters (time, voltage, etc.) to electrofusion fittings energized, so that the embedded electric wire fusion fittings and the inner surface of the pipe insertion end of the outer surface of the fusion, after cooling the pipe and fittings that are fused together. Its characteristics are convenient and rapid connection, good quality joints, external factors interfere with small, but the price of electrofusion fittings is ordinary fittings several times to dozens of times (the smaller the caliber of the difference between the larger), generally suitable for large-caliber pipe connection.
The procedure of electrofusion socket connection includes checking, cutting the pipe, cleaning the joint area, snapping the fittings into the pipe, calibrating, energizing the fusion and cooling:
Pipe cutting: The connection end of the pipe requires cutting vertically to ensure a sufficient heat fusion zone. Commonly used cutting tools are rotary cutters, saw bows, plastic pipe scissors, etc.; cutting is not allowed to generate high temperatures, so as not to cause high-temperature deformation.
Clean the joint part and mark the insertion depth line: use fine sandpaper, scraper, etc. to scrape off the oxidized layer on the surface of the pipe, wipe off the dirt on the connecting surface of the pipe and fittings with a clean cotton cloth, and mark the insertion depth line.
Sleeve the pipe fittings into the pipe: Sleeve the electrofusion pipe fittings into the pipe to the specified depth, and then connect the welding machine to the fittings.
Calibration: Adjust the position of the pipe and fittings so that the pipe and fittings are on the same axis to prevent eccentricity from causing poor welding and gas tightness of the joint.
Energized fusion: Energized heating time, and voltage should be in line with the electrofusion welding machine and electrofusion pipe fittings manufacturer's regulations to ensure that the supply voltage, and heating time, to obtain fusion joints.
Cooling: During the cooling period, it is important not to apply any external forces to the PE pipe joints, as they achieve their full compressive strength only once they have cooled to room temperature. Any external forces applied during this time can cause misalignment between the pipe and fittings, compromising the quality of the fusion joints. Therefore, it is essential to avoid moving or applying pressure to the connected parts or joints while they are cooling.
